Traders’ daily losses soar to Rs2 bn
(eNews.pk) - KARACHI: The city is facing a complete shutdown as traders, transporters and fuel station owners decided to keep their regular operations closed after the MQM announced ‘day of mourning’ Tuesday, Geo news reported.

The traders blamed the police and security administration for failing to protect their businesses in such a situation.

Chairman Traders Action Committee, Siddique Memon told Geo news that currently the traders are facing losses up to Rs2 billion while the sales have dropped to 70 % owing to the city situation.

According to sources of industrial sector, colossal loss of Rs10 billion is expected in the production sector due to deteriorating situation of the city.

Economic experts said that the labourers working on daily wages are the worst affected due to business paralysis in such situation while unemployment is also rising on a larger scale.

Therefore, traders’ bodies have demanded the government to deploy army as the police and Rangers have failed to protect them.

کراچی…کراچی کے تما م تجارتی وصنعتی مراکز بند ہیں۔ تاجروں اور صنعت کاروں کا کہنا ہے کہ شہر میں مسلسل جاری امن و امان کی بد ترین صورتحال کے باعث جہاں کارو بار ممکن نہیں رہا، وہیں روازانہ کی اجرت کمانے والے شخص کا گھرانہ بھی ایک وقت کی روٹی سے محروم ہوتا جا رہا ہے۔ٹریڈرز ایکشن کمیٹی کے چیئرمین صدیق میمن نے جیو نیوز کو بتایا کہ شہر میں امن و امان کی خراب صورتحال کے باعث تاجروں کو یومیہ ڈیرھ سے 2 ارب روپے کا نقصان ہوتا ہے۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ شہر میں مسلسل بدآمنی اور کشیدگی کے باعث فروخت پہلے ہی 70 فیصد تک گرچکی ہے۔ صنعتی زرائع کے مطابق شہر کا صنعتی پہیہ بند ہونے سے یومیہ 10 ارب روپے کے پیداواری نقصان کا خدشہ ہے، جس کے باعث محصولات میں یومیہ 3 ارب روپے کی کمی واقع ہو سکتی ہے۔ اقتصادی ماہرین کا کہنا ہے کہ معاشی سرگرمیاں معطل ہونے سے یومیہ اجرت پر کام کرنے والا طبقہ سب سے زیادہ متاثر ہوتا ہے۔ جبکہ شہر میں بدآمنی کی لہر کے باعث کاروبار ٹھپ اور لوگ بے روز گار ہو رہے ہیں۔ شہر میں جاری کشیدگی اور امن و امان کی بدترین صورتحال کو دیکھتے ہوئے تاجروں اور صنعت کاروں نے حکمرانوں سے مایوس ہو کر حکومت سے فوج طلب کرنے کا مطالبہ کردیا ہے۔
