PESHAWAR: The commander of Tehreek-i-Taliban Geedar who said the deadly attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is Wednesday Umar Mansoor, chief operating officer of TTP in PK facto.

A video posted on a Taliban attack wesbite after Army Public Schools showed a man with a beard length chest, he tried to justify the attack on December 16. The caption identified him as Umar Mansoor.
The Taliban said the attack APS, in which men armed with suicide-bomb vests executed children, was in retaliation for a military offensive carried out by the Pakistani army.
Six Pakistani Taliban interviewed by Reuters confirmed the mastermind was Mansoor. Four of them said it is close to Mullah Fazlullah, leader of the TTP besieged ordered murderers to kill schoolgirl activist Malala Yousafzai.
Mansoor got a secondary school in the capital, Islamabad, two members of the Taliban, he said, and later studied at a madrassa.
Mansoor has two brothers and spent some time working in Karachi as a laborer before joining the Taliban shortly after its creation in late 2007, said a commander.
His nickname is "Naray," a word in the Pashto language meaning "slim", and he is the father of two daughters and a son, said the other commanders.
The Taliban video describes it as the "emir," or leader, of Peshawar and Darra Adam Khel near. Mansoor deeply opposed talks with the government, commanders said.
"He was very strict from the beginning when he joined," said a commander. "He left behind many commanders if they had a soft corner (of the heart) to the government."
