US to continue drone attacks in Pakistan: Panetta

(eNews.pk) - WASHINGTON: The United States will have to maintain an open drone war against Al-Qaeda in Pakistan and elsewhere to prevent another terrorist attack in the United States, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Friday.




The killing of Al-Qaeda in Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia, drone, robotics has provoked widespread criticism from human rights groups and some U.S. allies, but Panetta said the U.S. campaign has been effective.
Asked if the CIA "targeted killings" should be reduced in the coming years, Panetta said in an interview that there was still a need to continue the buzz affects more than a decade since the attacks of September 11, 2001.
"I think it depends on the nature of the threat we face. We are in a war. We are in a war against terrorism and we have been in the war since 9/11.

واشنگٹن…امریکی وزیر دفاع لیون پنیٹا نے کہا ہے کہ القاعدہ کے جنگجو چاہے پاکستان میں ہوں یا دنیا میں کہیں بھی، ان پر ڈرون حملے جاری رہیں گے۔ غیرملکی خبرایجنسی کو ایک انٹرویو میں امریکی وزیر دفاع لیون پنیٹا کا کہنا تھا کہ پاکستان اور دیگر جگہوں پر القاعدہ کے جنگجووٴں پر ڈرون حملے جاری رہیں گے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ امریکا نائن الیون کے حملوں کے بعد سے حالت جنگ میں ہے اور ڈرون حملے پاکستان اور دیگر ممالک میں القاعدہ کے خلاف آپریشن کا حصہ ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ جہاں ضروری ہوا وہاں ڈرون حملے کریں گے۔ پاکستان ،یمن اور صومالیہ میں القاعدہ کے جنگجووٴں کی ڈرون حملوں میں ہلاکت پر انسانی حقوق کی تنظیمیں تنقید کرتی رہی ہیں ،تاہم لیون پنیٹا نے ان ہیں موٴثر قرار دیا ہے۔
