Pedestrian bridge collapses in Lahore

(eNews.pk) - LAHORE: At least two people were trapped under the rubble when part of a pedestrian bridge collapsed in the ring road in the area of Lahore Harbanspura Thursday morning, Geo news.

According to sources, part of the bridge fell when a truck passed under the bridge resultantly the capture of two people in the rubble. Due to the collapse, traffic from the airport to Harbanspura was suspended.

After the accident, rescue teams arrived on the scene shortly after the news and began effortsto get people trapped, while the Commissioner of Lahore also visited the site.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered an immediate investigation into the matter and submit the report of the incident probe. He has also formed a research team composed of the President of MIT, Secretary C & W, the chief engineer of the South and the dean of the UET.

لاہور… لاہور کے علاقے ہربنس پورہ رنگ روڈ پر پل کاحصہ گرنے ايک ٹرک پر آ گرا جس کے نتيجے ميں کم از کم2افراد ہلاک ہو گئے. اطلاعات کے مطابق ٹرک نيچے سے گزررہاتھا کہ پل کاحصہ ٹرک پرآن گرا. واقعے کے نتيجے ميں ائيرپورٹ سے ہربنس پورہ جانے والي ٹريفک بلاک ہو گئي. حادثے کے بعد ريسکيو اہلکار اور کمشنر لاہور سميت اعلي حکام جائے حادثہ پرپہنچ گئے اور ٹرک ميں پھنسے ہوئے افراد کونکالنے کي کوششيں جاري رہيں، پل کے گرے ہوئے حصے کو کرين کے ذريعے اٹھايا گيا جس کے بعد دبے ہوئے دونوں افراد کي لاشيں نکال لي گئيں. دريں اثناء وزيراعلي? پنجاب شہباز شريف نے پل کا ايک حصہ گرنے کے واقعے کي رپورٹ طلب کر لي ہے. وزيراعلي? پنجاب نے چيرمين سي ايم آئي ٹي، سيکريٹري سي اينڈ ڈبليو، چيف انجينير ساو?تھ،ڈين آف يو اي ٹي پر مشتمل تحقيقاتي ٹيم بنا دي ہے. وزيراعلي? نے ہدايت کي ہے کہ حادثے کي انکوائري کرکے فوري رپورٹ پيش کي جائے.پوليس کے مطابق پل تعمير کرنے والي کمپني رو?ف کنسٹرکشن کے مالک کو گرفتار کر ليا گيا ہے.
