CJ SHC suspended ban Order on motorcycle riding

(eNews.pk) - KARACHI: Chief Justice of Sindh High Court has rejected calls Interior Minister Rehman Malik regarding the ban on motorcycles in Karachi, issuing notices to IG Sindh, Interior Minister and the Advocate General Sindh.




SHC Chief Justice Mushir Alam of Justice has ordered the IG, AG and interior minister to appear in court on Friday morning.
SHC orders came after the CJ received a written application against Malik's announcement of a ban on motorcycle riding. The request was submitted by President Sindh Hight Court Bar Association.
Previously, citing security reasons, the government not only banned riding motorcycles, but also decided to suspend cellular services in Karachi and Quetta on Friday.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik talking to media here, announced that motorcycles are not allowed to enter the road 6:00 a.m.-7: 00 PM on Friday.
He added that no one would be exempt from this prohibition.
Malik said his ministry had received information that the motorcycles would be used in terrorist attacks in public places.

کراچی … چیف جسٹس سندھ ہائی کورٹ نے کراچی میں موٹر سائیکل چلانے پر پابندی کے حکومتی احکامات معطل کردیئے۔ چیف جسٹس سندھ ہائی کورٹ جسٹس مشیر عالم نے وفاقی حکومتی کی جانب سے یکم محرم الحرام کو کراچی میں موٹر سائیکل چلانے پر پابندی کے احکامات معطل کردیئے ہیں اور سیکریٹری داخلہ، آئی جی سندھ اور ایڈووکیٹ جنرل سندھ کو کل صبح 11 بجے عدالت میں طلب کرلیا ہے۔ چیف جسٹس سندھ ہائی کورٹ جسٹس مشیر عالم نے سندھ بار ایسو سی ایشن کی درخواست پر موٹر سائیکل چلانے پر پابندی کا حکومتی فیصلہ معطل کیا۔ سندھ بار ایسو سی ایشن کی تقریب کے دوران وکلاء کی زبانی اور پھر تحریری درخواست پر جسٹس مشیر عالم نے احکامات معطل کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا۔ واضح رہے کہ وزیر داخلہ رحمان ملک نے کوئٹہ اور کراچی میں کل (یکم محرم الحرام کو) موٹر سائیکل کی سواری پر پابندی، موبائل فون سروس بند اور کاروباری مراکز شام پانچ بجے بند کرنے کا حکم دیا تھا۔
