Americans in Pakistan told to avoid Efroze drugs
(eNews.pk) - ISLAMABAD: The US Embassy in Islamabad has urged its employees and US nationals living in Pakistan not to purchase/consume Efroze Pharma products until WHO advises the manufacturer has addressed all the health concerns, Geo news reported.

Earlier, according to reliable reports, independent professional analysis had identified Efroze’s Isotab (isosorbide mononitrate) 20 mg tablets as having been contaminated with a drug called pyrimethamine, a common anti-malarial drug also manufactured by the same.

The harmful drug contamination has caused around 120 deaths and hundreds of hospitalizations in Pakistan.

All the mission employees and other Americans in Pakistan have been advised that any person taking Isotab 20mg tablets made by Efroze (Batch J093) should immediately stop doing so and see their health care provider.

The embassy further recommended that U.S. citizens follow WHO recommendations and consult their health care provider if they have further concerns.

The advisory also added that there is currently no evidence that other drugs by the same manufacturer or those produced by other Pakistani manufacturers are affected.

However, the World Health Organization (WHO) Pakistan has suspended all Efroze products from the list of WHO drug suppliers until test results confirm these medications are not contaminated.

لاہور … لاہور ميں آئسو ٹيب کے استعمال سے ہونيوالي ہلاکتوں کے بعد امريکي سفارت خانے نے اپنے شہريوں کو افروز کمپني کي ادويات خريدنے اور استعمال کرنے سے روک ديا ہے،اسلام آباد ميں امريکي سفارتخانے کي طرف اپنے شہريوں کيلئے ادويات کے استعمال کے حوالے سے جاري ہدايت نامے ميں کہا گيا ہے کہ جب تک عالمي ادارہ صحت کي طرف سے اس حوالے سے سفارشات نہيں آجاتيں کمپني کي ادويات کا اسعمال نہ کيا جائے ، سفارتخانے کي طرف سے مزيد کہا گيا ہے کہ اپنے ملازمين کو ہدايت کي گئي ہے کہ جو بھي اس کمپني کي بنائي آئسوٹيب کا استعمال کر رہا ہے ، فوري ترک کر دے اور معالج سے رابطہ کرے.
