Security of Punjab jails on high alert

(eNews.pk) - LAHORE: Intelligence Agencies have cautioned the provincial government to pay special attention towards jail security measures as the probablity of incidents like Bannu prison attack is high, Geo news reported Friday.




Trusted sources told that an intelligence agency has warned the Punjab government of similar incidents as militants belonging to banned terrorist organization can attack other jails in Punjab. Therefore, special attention should be given to ensure foolproof security measures for the provincial jails.
The agency has directed to keep the security on high alert at all prisons in the province in order to counter any malicious intentions by the militants.
On Sunday, April 15, Taliban militants stormed the Central Prison, Bannu with rockets and automatic weapons to enable over 384 prisoners to escape from different barracks.
