Rescue operation continues in Siachen

(eNews.pk) - SIACHEN: As military personnel and volunteers work round the clock on the extensive rescue operation in the Gayari Sector in Siachen, a total of 1.73 million cubic feet area has been shifted since the avalanche engulfed the battalion headquarters.




According to an update issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), despite cold weather hindering the operation, frequently causing equipment to break down, all efforts were being made to extract the trapped soldiers and civilians.
The platforms, constructed on all sites, have been consolidated, however excavation work is being focused on expansion of the sites. The ground-penetrating radar teams have identified two more points. Meanwhile, a Norwegian team has returned to Islamabad after providing critical technical information.

اسکردو… گياري ميں برف تلے دبے فوجيوں کو نکالنے کے ليے سرچ اينڈ ريسکيو آپريشن اٹھارہويں دن بھي جاري ہے. ريڈارز سے نشاندہي کے بعد مزيد دو مقامات پر کھدائي شروع کردي گئي.آئي ايس پي آر کے مطابق شديد سردي اور ديگر موسمي دشواريوں کے باوجود گياري ميں سرچ اينڈ ريسکيو آپريشن دن رات جاري ہے اور اب تک برف کے تودے ميں 17 لاکھ مربع فٹ کھدائي کي جاچکي ہے. خراب موسم سے مشينوں کا کام متاثر ہورہا ہے. تاہم مشينري کے ليے پليٹ فارمز کو مزيد مضبوط بناديا گيا ہے. ناروے کي امدادي ٹيم ضروري تکنيکي معلومات کي فراہمي کے بعد گياري سے واپس اسلام آباد پہنچ گئي. سياچن کے گياري سيکٹر ميں سات اپريل کو پاک فوج کے بٹالين ہيڈکوارٹر پر برف کا تودہ آگرا تھا جس ميں پاک آرمي کے جوان اور سويلين اہلکار دب گئے تھے. برف کا تودہ گرنے کي شدت کا اندازہ اس بات سے لگايا جاسکتا ہے کہ چند روز پہلے جوانوں کے زير استعمال رہنے والي کچھ اشيا متاثرہ مقام سے چھ سو ميٹر دور ملي تھيں. پوري قوم گياري ميں انتہائي مشکل حالات ميں وطن کے ليے جان ہتھيلي پر رکھ کر فرائض انجام دينے والے جوانوں کي سلامتي کيلئے دعاگو ہے.
