Woman gets 12 years for snatching baby

(eNews.pk) - NEW YORK: A woman who snatched a newborn from a hospital more than two decades ago and raised the child as his was sentenced Monday to 12 years in prison by a judge who called it a "crime of selfishness "fears of parents and improving hospitals forced to increase security.

Ann Pettway, Raleigh, North Carolina, nodded repeatedly as U.S. District Judge Kevin P. Castel said his sentence in a Manhattan courtroom packed with relatives and friends Pettway, and the real parents of Carlina White, who was stolen from Harlem Hospital when she was only 19 days.

The Pettway 50 years old, had pleaded guilty to kidnapping in February, which describes how one day in 1987 took a train from his home in Connecticut in the hospital, where he posed as a nurse and assured the White's mother, who had brought her daughter to the emergency room to treat a high fever.

واشنگٹن…امريکا ميں 25سال پہلے19 دن کي بچي چرانے والي عورت کو 12سال قيد کي سزا سنا دي گئي ہے.1987ميں ملزمہ’اين پيٹ وے‘ نرس کا روپ دھار کر نيويارک کے ايک اسپتال سے19دن کي کارلينا وائٹ کو اٹھا کر لے گئي تھي. بچي کو اس کے والدين بخار کے علاج کے ليے لائے تھے.ملزمہ نے 23سال تک کارلينا وائٹ کي اپني بيٹي کي حيثيت سے پرورش کي.اپنا برتھ سرٹيفکيٹ نہ ہونے کي وجہ سے کارلينا کو شبہ ہوا تواس نے2011 ميں گمشدہ بچوں کے ادارے سے رابطہ کيا. ڈي اين اے ٹيسٹ اور تحقيقات سے کارلينا کے اصل والدين کا پتا چل گيا.جس کے بعد ’اين پيٹ وے “پر مقدمہ چلنا شروع ہوا تھا. اپني گم شدہ بيٹي کو پا کرحقيقي والدين کي خوشي کا کوئي ٹھکانا نہ تھا.تاہم انہوں نے کہا کہ ملزمہ نے اُنہيں اپني بيٹي کي پرورش کي خوشيوں سے محروم کرديا،اسے 12سال سے زائد سزا ملني چاہيے تھي.
