An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 has struck the Mediterranean between Morocco and Spain, the US Geological Survey said.
Around 4.22 this morning, an earthquake 20 miles deep hit 39 miles north of the Moroccan town of Al Hoceima and 102 miles south-east of Gibraltar. It was followed by six aftershocks, one of magnitude 5.3 tremor.
Emergency services in Andalusia said they had received at least 250 calls from alarmed residents.
In Morocco, 200 residents reported damage to their homes, officials said schools in the affected region were closed today so that officials could inspect structural damage.
The USGS said there was a "low likelihood of casualties and damage", and have not yet been serious injuries or deaths reported.
Power is being restored after a power outage.
