HYDERABAD: At least 10 people were killed and many others seriously injured in an explosion in a steel factory in south-eastern India, a local government official said Thursday. "Ten people died in the blast Wednesday evening, about nine are fighting for their lives in hospital," Lav Agarwal, chief of the district of Visakhapatnam in the state of Andhra Pradesh, he said. A spokesman for the plant who declined to be named said that the first reports suggested that the explosion occurred in a control room, but that the cause of the explosion was uncertain. "We found people with burns to 75 per cent who were taken to hospital," he said. "A tube for supplying oxygen burst and we are investigating". Rashtriya Ispat Nigam State The plant, located in Visakhapatnam, 600 km (370 miles) from state capital Hyderabad, was hit by another fatal accident last month, when two workers were killed in the kiln site.
