Bangladesh JI leader sentenced to life

(eNews.pk) - DHAKA: A Bangladeshi court sentenced a greater Jamaat e Islami (JI) officer to life in prison on Tuesday for mass murder and crimes against humanity during the 1971 war.




Abdul Quader Molla, 64, the fourth highest rated leader of the Jamaat-e-Islami, is the first politician to be convicted by the International Criminal Court, a tribunal much criticized national based in Dhaka.
Molla shouted "Allahu Akbar" (God is greatest) and said all the accusations were false after the presiding judge Hassan Obaidul the verdict in a packed court, covered with heavy security.
The decision sparked protests by Jamaat, the country's largest Islamic party to meet a national strike on Tuesday in anticipation of the sentence. It warned that resist "at all costs a government project" to execute its leaders.

ڈھاکا…بنگلا دیش میں جنگی جرائم کی ٹربیونل نے ملک کی بڑی اسلام پسند سیاسی جماعت کے ایک اور رہنما عبدالقادر مولا کوعمر قید کی سزاسنا دی ہے۔ ڈھاکا کی ہائی کورٹ میں عبدالقادر مولا کو 1971 میں جنگ کے دوران انسانیت کے خلاف جنگی جرائم کا مرتکب پایا ہے اور اُنہیں عمر قید کی سزا سنائی گئی ہے۔گذشتہ ماہ ٹربیونل نے ڈھاکہ میں جماعتِ اسلامی کے سابق رکن مولانا عبدالکلام آزاد کو اُن کی عدم موجودگی میں سزائے موت کی سنائی تھی۔دوسری طرف بنگلا دیش میں جنگی جرائم کی ٹربیونل کے خلاف جماعت اسلامی نے آج ملک گیر احتجاج کا اعلان کیا ہے۔ مختلف علاقوں میں مظاہرین اور پولیس کے درمیان جھڑپیں بھی ہوئی ہیں۔
