Syrian state media reported on Friday that Israeli helicopters had fired multiple rockets from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights at targets in southern Syria.
Opposition sources in the region said that during the attack, several militia posts near Quneitra were attacked that were said to have caused only material damage. There were no immediate comments from the Israeli army.
According to the regional intelligence source, Israel intensified its raids in Syria at a time when the attention of the world and the region, including Syria, was diverted from the coronavirus pandemic.
Regardless, the Syrian army said on Friday that a series of explosions in an ammunition depot east of Homs resulted in casualties, but was not caused by an attack as previously announced. However, the UK-based Syrian Human Rights Observatory said the explosions were caused by Israeli strikes targeting a military base on Hezbollah’s Homs-Palmyra road.
The bases and convoys of the Lebanese Hezbollah militia supported by Iran, which is heavily represented in the Syrian Golan Heights, have been hit by Israel in recent years.
