India-China talks failed Ladakh dispute

Negotiations between Chinese and Indian military officials to end 17 months of tensions on the disputed Ladakh border in the western Himalayas have failed.

According to the foreign news agency ‘AP’, China and India were informed about the disappointing progress.

The failure of the talks means that the armies of the two countries will be present in Ladakh in the dead of winter.

The Indian defense minister said in a statement that he had been offered “positive suggestions” but did not “express willingness” and did not make any “suggestions”.

According to a Chinese military spokesman, “the demands of the Indian authorities are unrealistic and irrational, which has made negotiations difficult.”

Following the disappointing results of the talks, the Indian army chief said on October 10 that China had sent a large number of troops and weapons to the disputed area.

Indian Army Chief General Manoj Makandnarwa said, “Yes! It is a matter of concern that large-scale military mobilization is still going on and the development of infrastructure towards China is in full swing.

“So, that means they (China) will be there, we’re keeping a close eye on all this progress, but if they’re there, we’re going to be there,” he said.

“China’s commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty is unwavering and China hopes that India will not misunderstand the situation,” said Col. Long Shaova, a senior member of China’s Western Theater Command.

Keep in mind that around January, temperatures in areas beyond Ladakh reach minus 30.

According to media reports, the two countries’ forces are camping in the Galvan Valley of Ladakh and accusing each other of crossing the disputed border.

India and China share a border with the Himalayas and the two countries have a long-running border dispute, with both blaming each other.

China claims 90,000 sq km in India’s northeastern region, while India claims that China has occupied 38,000 sq km in the western Himalayas, and the two countries have held dozens of meetings over the border dispute. Have done but no solution could be found.

No shots were fired during the June 15 battle in the Gulwan Valley of Ladakh and Indian troops were stoned, but it was nevertheless the worst clash between Asia’s armed nuclear powers in decades.
