Deputy Commissioner Saqib Raza Salman on Saturday confirmed that 25 schools in Swat have been sealed for reopening without government approval.

Schools reopened after the announcement of the All Pakistan Private Schools Association. On July 20, the association announced that it would reopen private schools across the country from August 15.

Cases of violation of government Covid-19 SOPs have also been registered against school management and their principals.

Very few students reportedly came to school on Saturday morning.

Syed Tariq Shah, chairman of the Private Schools Association, said the government had done injustice to schools. He said that if the schools were closed and they were not allowed to reopen soon, the association would protest.

Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood, while presiding over an inter-provincial meeting, said that Pakistan would reopen all educational institutions from September 15.

All the education ministers in the province attended the meeting via video link. It tested the success of online education during the Covid-19 lockdown in the country.

Mahmood rejected a request from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to reopen schools, colleges and universities in the province. The opening date was then agreed upon on September 15.
