The Islamabad High Court heard a petition against the privatization of PIA’s Roosevelt Hotel in New York.

Judge Aamer Farooq asked the deputy attorney general whether the hotel would be privatized or not. Raja Khalid Mehmood said that it is not.

Judge Farooq then asked if he would like to submit a written answer to the case. He replied that he had to talk to the government about it.

The court then directed him to speak to government officials about where or not a written answer could be submitted in the case.

The petition was filed by lawyer Mian Ghaffar on behalf of lawyer Sharif Sabir. He said that every government tried to sell or privatize the hotel.

The petitioner claimed that Zulfi Bukhari, the Prime Minister’s special assistant for overseas Pakistanis, was interested in buying the hotel at a low cost.

Financial advisor Hafeez Shaikh and aviation minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan were named as respondents. The case was adjourned until July 15.
