Federal Minister of Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed said at a press conference that Prime Minister Imran Khan had ordered train operations in the country to resume on Wednesday. The minister said that Prime Minister Imran Khan approved the operation of 30 trains from May 20.
He added that all standard operating procedures (SOP) would be adopted during train operations. He said “measures are being taken against the regional superintendent for violating SOPs,” added that the railways will start operating more trains from June 1 as the situation in Covid-19 improves in the country.
He announced that ticket prices would also be cut by 50 to 60 percent, even if the move resulted in a loss for the ministry. The Minister also thanked the Prime Minister for restoring rail operations.

وفاقی وزیر ریلوے شیخ رشید احمد نے ایک پریس کانفرنس میں کہا کہ وزیر اعظم عمران خان نے بدھ کے روز ملک میں ٹرین کا آپریشن دوبارہ شروع کرنے کا حکم دیا ہے۔ وزیر نے کہا کہ وزیر اعظم عمران خان نے 20 مئی سے 30 ٹرینوں کے آپریشن کی منظوری دی ہے۔
انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ ٹرین آپریشن کے دوران تمام معیاری آپریٹنگ طریقہ کار (ایس او پی) کو اپنایا جائے گا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ “ایس او پیز کی خلاف ورزی کرنے کے لئے علاقائی سپریٹنڈنٹ کے خلاف اقدامات اٹھائے جائیں گے،” انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ ریلوے یکم جون سے مزید ٹرینوں کا کام شروع کردے گا اگر کوویڈ ۔19 سے ملک میں صورتحال بہتر ہوجائے۔
انہوں نے اعلان کیا کہ ٹکٹ کی قیمتوں میں بھی 50 سے 60 فیصد کمی کی جائے گی ، چاہے اس اقدام سے وزارت کو نقصان ہو۔ وزیر نے ریلوے آپریشن بحال کرنے پر وزیر اعظم کا شکریہ بھی ادا کیا۔
