Minister of Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz announced on Thursday to the National Assembly (NA) that fifty percent of the media’s outstanding payments have been approved for the two-year term of the Pakistani government Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

In front of the house, the minister said the remaining fifty percent of the fees would be paid in a week, as Prime Minister Imran Khan gave special instructions in this regard.

The outstanding amount for the past two years has been 1.15 billion rupees, he added.

Shibli Faraz said the current government has not recruited anyone from the Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) other than top management to raise the national broadcaster.

He regretted that institutions like PTV, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Pakistan Steel Mills had been destroyed by previous governments through political appointments.

In the meantime, the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Muhammad Khan, informed the house that the Senate had recently passed a constitutional amendment to improve the seats in the Baluchistan Assembly.

He said the opposition parties should support the amendment if it is submitted to the lower house for approval.
