The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) has announced that persons without vaccination will be banned from traveling in trains, and has directed the provinces to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs). ۔

The NCOC held a meeting on Monday in which its chief minister Asad Umar expressed concern over the rising number of cases of COVID 19 in Rawalpindi and Peshawar and the need for non-vaccinated people to come by train from October 1. Decided to stop

The NCOC appreciated the efforts of the provincial administration and asked them to take necessary steps to ensure compliance of SOPs in the month of Muharram.

He also stressed the need to speed up the vaccination process. During the meeting, it was informed that 29 million people have received the first dose of Corona virus vaccine while only 7 million people have been fully vaccinated. It was noted that some people were being denied their second dose because they did not have permission to do so.

Dr Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Health (SAPM), said on Monday that people should not wait for the code and get a second dose of the covid vaccine themselves. “As soon as it’s time for the second dose, people should be vaccinated even if they don’t have the code,” he said.

Pakistan has received more than one million Covid 19 Antigen Rapid Diagnostic Test (RDT) kits from the United States through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).

“We are grateful to USAID for its prompt donation of antigen tests,” Dr. Sultan said, adding that the gesture reflected the warm relations between the two countries.

“These RDTs will meet Pakistan’s immediate monitoring and evaluation needs and limit the spread of Covid 19 to its minimum level,” said USAID Mission Director Julie Quinn.
