Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar was the chief guest. He said that Karachi Zoo is a historical place and is the largest zoo in Pakistan.

In 1833, the Karachi Zoo was known as Victoria Garden. Where the East India Company founded a factory.

In 1870, it was officially opened to the public, and about 900 animals were added to the 33-hectare area.

During Mahatma Gandhi’s visit in 1913, the Karachi Municipality designated it the Karachi Zoological Garden by an approved decision of the Council.

The zoo had a Mughal garden in the 1960s and 1970s. About 60% of the zoo’s total area is occupied by parks, ponds, gardens and recreational activities.

About 300,000 families visit it every year. Animal and bird cages have been painted to give viewers a new look.
