The Federal Government decided on Monday to grant Pakistanis internet voting (i-voting) overseas during the elections and decided to allow citizens to participate in the electoral process by voting on the Internet.
It turned out that the participants of the meeting, after reviewing the practical demonstration, approved the biometric and i-voting procedures.
The decision was made at the meeting held today, which included the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Overseas Pakistan, Zulfiqar Bukhari, the Prime Minister’s Adviser to Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan, the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) and officials from the Pakistani Electoral Commission (ECP) participated.
It is also decided to take further steps to launch a debate on online voting rights for Pakistanis overseas based on ECP reports in Parliament.
On this occasion, Zulfiqar Bukhari said the current government would respond to longstanding demand from overseas Pakistanis. The electronic voting process will be very simple to give foreigners the right to participate in elections according to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision.
He added that previous governments had neglected issues related to the granting of opportunities for foreign nationals. Now the incumbent government will also involve foreign Pakistanis in the decision-making process.

وفاقی حکومت نے پیر کے روز انتخابات کے دوران بیرون ملک مقیم پاکستانیوں کو انٹرنیٹ ووٹنگ (آئی ووٹنگ) دینے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے اور انٹرنیٹ کے ذریعے رائے دہندگی کے ذریعے شہریوں کو پولنگ کے عمل میں حصہ لینے کی اجازت دینے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے۔
یہ بات سامنے آئی کہ اجلاس کے شرکاء نے اپنے عملی مظاہرے کا جائزہ لینے کے بعد بائیو میٹرک اور آئی ووٹنگ کے طریقہ کار کی منظوری دے دی ہے۔
یہ فیصلہ آج ہونے والے اجلاس میں کیا گیا جس میں وزیر اعظم کے معاون خصوصی برائے اوورسیز پاکستانیز ذوالفقار بخاری ، پارلیمانی امور سے متعلق وزیر اعظم کے مشیر بابر اعوان ، نیشنل ڈیٹا بیس اینڈ رجسٹریشن اتھارٹی (نادرا) اور الیکشن کمیشن آف پاکستان کے عہدیداروں نے شرکت کی۔
پارلیمنٹ میں ای سی پی کی رپورٹوں کی بنیاد پر بیرون ملک مقیم پاکستانیوں کو انٹرنیٹ ووٹنگ کے حقوق پر بحث شروع کرنے کے لئے مزید اقدامات کرنے کا بھی فیصلہ کیا گیا ہے۔
