The cabinet meeting postponed the increase in Pakistani television (PTV) fees after some federal ministers raised objections.

According to the information, the fee for Pakistani television (PTV) has been increased by the federal government from 35 to 100 rupees.
After that, there was turmoil on all sides, including social media, and the government was asked to withdraw that increase immediately.

The country’s politicians had also spoken out against the increase in fees and criticized the government.

According to sources, a meeting of the federal cabinet was chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

During the meeting, some ministers opposed the increase in Pakistani TV (PTV) fees.

According to the sources, Federal Minister of Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry, Federal Minister of Water Resources Faisal Vawda, Federal Minister Murad Saeed and Shireen Mazari refused to increase the PTV license fee during the cabinet meeting.

Federal ministers said the issue should be discussed in the National Assembly (NA). The cabinet cannot levy such taxes or levies without the approval of the National Assembly; PTV has not been able to present its business plan for two years.

Cabinet members asked that the total budget of 110 private channels is Rs 38 billion. Why does the government need Rs 22 billion for PTV alone?

According to sources after the objections of the ministers in the federal cabinet, the question of raising the PTV fee was postponed from 35 to 100 rupees.

Sources say implementation of the increased fee will be suspended until the public is treated confidentially.
