China has condemned a series of terrorist attacks against civilians that have killed dozens of people, including two children, and injured many in Afghanistan.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, Zhao Lijian, said during his regular briefing: “We have noted the report. We have condemned the terrorist attacks against civilians. “

Two newborns, 12 mothers and nurses were killed in a militant attack on a hospital in Kabul, the Afghan capital, on Tuesday morning. Fifteen other people, including several children, were injured in the attack by several armed men. Meanwhile, at least 24 people were killed in a funeral in a bombing raid in the east of the country.

The spokesman said: “We mourn for people and express our sincere condolences to the injured and the bereaved.”

He said the Chinese side will continue to support the Afghan government and the people’s fight against terrorism to ensure national stability and public security, and to create the conditions for the country’s peace and reconciliation process.

The Islamic State (IS) group has claimed to be behind the attack on the funeral of a police commandant in Nangarhar in the east of the country. The Taliban have denied any involvement.
