In the US state of New Mexico, three people have died after drinking hand sanitizer to avoid the coronavirus, one has lost his sight permanently and three are in critical condition.
A spokesman for the Mexican Department of Health said one of the Indian sanitizers had lost its sight due to methanol, while three were in critical condition and were being treated.
The health department has warned citizens to avoid the misuse of sanitizers and not to drink it.
