The Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Karachi paid the tuition fee for the academic session 2020-21 despite the economic crisis triggered by the outbreak of the coronavirus and the resulting regulation of the government of Sindh, which obliges the universities to reduce the fee by 20% 10% increased.

IBA is expected to collect Rs. 164 million annually from the move, Rs. 100 million of which are raised during admission to the autumn semester.

According to the executive director of the IBA, Dr. Akbar S. Zaidi approved the decision on July 25 at the meeting of the Institute’s Board of Governors (BoG).

It is worth noting that the secretary of Sindh universities and committees, Riazuddin, also attended the IBA BoG meeting.

The summary of the fee increase was forwarded to the BoG by the IBA’s Accounting and Finance department on June 12.

During the meeting, the board members were also informed about the fee structures of LUMS, KSBL and Habib University. Members were informed that some universities in Sindh, including SZABIST, recently increased the fee, which violates the Sindh government regulation to grant students a discount on the fee.

The BoG justified the fee increase with the fact that the IBA fee after the increase will still be half of the LUMS fee and 1/3 of Habib University.

IBA students have rejected the recent fee increase and described it as unfair given the current economic situation across the country.
