SC to hear treason case against Musharraf today

(eNews.pk) - ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan will take treason petition against former military dictator Pervez Musharraf today (Monday).




The Supreme Court is hearing a petition filed Taufiq Asif, President Rawalpindi High Court Bar Association, which seeks to try Musharraf for treason for imposing martial law in 2007, a move that ultimately paved the way for his downfall.
Meanwhile, Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary has distanced itself from a 3-member bench hearing identical petitions seeking prosecution of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf under high treason (punishment) of the 1973rd
Now the two-member bench led by senior court judge Jawad S Khwaja hear the case.

اسلام آباد… جنرل ریٹائرڈ پرویز مشرف کے خلاف بغاوت اور غداری کے مقدمے کی سماعت کرنے والا سپریم کورٹ کا بینچ تبدیل کردیا گیا، اب جسٹس جوادایس خواجہ کی سربراہی میں دو رکنی بینچ آج درخواستوں کی سماعت کرے گا۔ مقدمے کی سماعت کے لیے پہلے چیف جسٹس کی سربراہی میں تین رکنی بینچ تشکیل دیا گیا تھا تاہم گزشتہ روز سپریم کورٹ کے اس بینچ کو تبدیل کرتے ہوئے جسٹس جواد ایس خواجہ کی سربراہی میں دو رکنی بنچ بنایا گیا ہے۔ پرویزمشرف کے خلاف سپریم کورٹ میں دائر پانچ درخواستوں کو یکجا کرکے آج سماعت کی جائے گی۔
