President Dr. Arif Alvi, who chaired the second meeting of the Emerging Technologies Committee here in Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday, ordered the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications (IT & Telecommunications) to improve the accessibility of Internet facilities in rural areas and build innovative IT solutions and competencies to overcome economic and technological challenges.
The meeting was attended by Minister of IT and Telecommunications Syed Aminul Haque and Secretary Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Digital Pakistan, Tania Aidrus, as well as representatives of provincial governments, including Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan, as well as IT experts Video conference. The President highlighted the importance of information and communication technologies (ICT) and said they had enormous potential, an important role in improving the economy, trade, exports, education, health care, governance, construction, agriculture and other important sectors.
Arif Alvi said that ICT has played an important role during the current COVID-19 crisis, as technology has accelerated the digitization of many companies and services, including online work and videoconferencing systems on and off the job, access to health care, education, and others essential goods and services.
The President stressed the need to revitalize the vital sector by bringing in Pakistani IT professionals from abroad to play their role in the country’s technological development. To improve Internet coverage in rural areas, the President instructed the Department of IT and Telecommunications to take measures to improve coverage of Internet facilities in rural areas so that students have continuous access to online education.

صدر ڈاکٹر عارف علوی ، جنہوں نے پیر کو ایوان صدر میں ایمرجنگ ٹیکنالوجیز کمیٹی کے دوسرے اجلاس کی صدارت کی ، نے وزارت انفارمیشن ٹیکنالوجی اینڈ ٹیلی کمیونیکیشن (آئی ٹی اینڈ ٹیلی کمیونیکیشن) کو دیہی علاقوں میں انٹرنیٹ کی سہولیات کی رسائی کو بہتر بنانے کا حکم دیا۔ معاشی اور تکنیکی چیلنجوں پر قابو پانے کے لئے آئی ٹی کے جدید حل اور قابلیت کی تشکیل کریں۔
اجلاس میں وزیر آئی ٹی و ٹیلی کمیونیکیشن سید امین الحق اور سکریٹری شعیب احمد صدیقی ، وزیر اعظم کے معاون خصوصی برائے ڈیجیٹل پاکستان ، تانیہ ادریس کے علاوہ آزاد جموں و کشمیر اور گلگت بلتستان سمیت صوبائی حکومتوں کے نمائندوں نے بھی شرکت کی۔ نیز آئی ٹی ماہرین نے ویڈیو کانفرنس کے ذریعے شرکت کی۔ صدر مملکت نے انفارمیشن اینڈ کمیونیکیشن ٹیکنالوجیز (آئی سی ٹی) کی اہمیت پر روشنی ڈالی اور کہا کہ ان کے پاس معیشت ، تجارت ، برآمدات ، تعلیم ، صحت کی دیکھ بھال ، گورننس ، تعمیرات ، زراعت اور دیگر اہم شعبوں کی بہتری میں بہت زیادہ صلاحیت ہے۔
عارف علوی نے کہا کہ موجودہ کوویڈ-19 بحران کے دوران آئی سی ٹی نے ایک اہم کردار ادا کیا ہے ، کیونکہ ٹیکنالوجی نے بہت سی کمپنیوں اور خدمات کی ڈیجیٹلائزیشن کو تیز کیا ہے ، جس میں آن لائن کام اور نوکری پر یا اس سے باہر ویڈیو کانفرنسنگ سسٹم ، صحت کی دیکھ بھال تک رسائی ، تعلیم ، اور دوسروں کو ضروری سامان اور خدمات۔
صدر مملکت نے بیرون ملک سے پاکستانی آئی ٹی پیشہ ور افراد کو لا کر ملک کی تکنیکی ترقی میں اپنا کردار ادا کرنے کے لئے اہم شعبے کو زندہ کرنے کی ضرورت پر زور دیا۔ دیہی علاقوں میں انٹرنیٹ کی کوریج کو بہتر بنانے کے لئے ، صدر نے محکمہ آئی ٹی اور ٹیلی مواصلات کو ہدایت کی کہ دیہی علاقوں میں انٹرنیٹ کی سہولیات کی کوریج کو بہتر بنانے کے لئے اقدامات اٹھائیں تاکہ طلبا کو آن لائن تعلیم تک مستقل رسائی حاصل ہو۔
