Some residents of Khyber Mandi Kass deliberately uprooted trees that the government planted as part of their nationwide plantation trip on Sunday.
The men said the administration planted the trees on disputed land without their permission. They held a protest against the government.
The participants in the plantation trip tried to negotiate with the demonstrators, but nothing worked. The protesters carried black flags and sang slogans. They also gathered around the people who were planting the trees there, trying to physically overwhelm them.
According to the district administration, over 6,000 new trees were removed from these people.
Prime Minister Mahmood Khan and the district’s deputy commissioner took note of the incident and promised measures to be taken against the perpetrators.
