PPP leader Khurshid Shah said that rallies and protests for Muslims in Indian-administered Kashmir would not be conducive to their cause. He believes the federal government will have to come up with guidelines to help achieve its goal.

Shah spoke to reporters at the Sukkur court on Tuesday where he appeared for a hearing against him.

“There is no point in holding rallies and protests on the Kashmir issue,” he said. “The government must trust the opposition on this issue and unite the nation. [The government] has failed to formulate good policies.”

The people of Pakistan and Kashmir will celebrate Exploitation Day in Kashmir on August 5 (Wednesday). Meetings are held in different parts of the country.

On August 5 last year, India repealed Articles 35A and 370 of its Constitution, ending the special status accorded to Indian-administered Kashmir.

Kashmiri Lives Matter Billboards will be hung in New York’s Times Square for a week to condemn the atrocities of the Indian Armed Forces in the region. The Council of the European Union for Kashmir has announced that its member will protest in front of the Indian High Commission.

On the other hand, the Indian government has announced that sanctions will be tightened in Kashmir on Tuesday and Wednesday. Internet and mobile phone services are down in the valley.

Hurriyat leader Ali Gilani said that Kashmiris would protest the move and observe the strike.
