Inquiry team constituted for power breakdown

(eNews.pk) - ISLAMABAD: Water and Energy Secretary Rai Sikandar put all the rumors to rest, I had been doing the rounds, late at night after the main cities of Pakistan plunged into darkness due to a power failure.




In a press conference in the early hours of Monday, the Secretary said that the two officials would take hours to restore power.
He added that there was no flaw in the national grid and was instead a cascade effect leading to power outages.
The official said the power system are interconnected as a string. "1200 megawatts of electricity out of the system due to a glitch in the Hubco power plant," he said. He said the system automatically switches to Tarbela and Mangla and tripped off line due to the cascading effect.
He said the Hubco power plant supplies electricity to Karachi and other parts of Pakistan. "As soon as the KESC is able to generate 50 to 100 megawatts of electricity from Hubco to start working slowly," he added.

اسلام آباد… سیکریٹری پانی وبجلی رائے سکندر نے کہا ہے کہ وزیراعظم کی ہدا یت پر انکوائری ٹیم تشکیل دیدی گئی ہے، رات گیارہ بجکر45منٹ پرحبکوپاورپلانٹ ٹرپ کرگیا، حبکوپاورپلانٹ سے12سومیگاواٹ بجلی پیداہورہی ہے، فنی خرابی اوربجلی کی بحالی میں 2سے3گھنٹے مزیدلگیں گے۔نیشنل گرڈ اسٹیشن میں فنی خرابی کے باعث پیدا ہونے والی بجلی کی صورتحال پر سیکریٹری پانی و بجلی رائے سکندر نیشنل پاور کنٹرول سینٹرمیں ہنگامی پریس کانفرنس کی، جس میں انہوں نے بریک ڈاوٴن سے متعلق قوم کو آ گاہ کیا۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ 1200میگاواٹ بجلی قومی سسٹم میں آچکی ہے، بجلی کی فراہمی معطل ہونیکی شفاف تحقیقات کرائیں گے۔ رائے سکندر کے مطابق کے ای ایس سی حبکوکوبجلی فراہم کریگی، حبکوکے 6پلانٹس آہستہ آہستہ بحال کردیے جائیں گے۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ بجلی فنی خرابی کے باعث معطل ہوئی ہے، عوام افواہوں پرکان نہ دھریں۔
