India claimed to have arrested a “Pakistani spy pigeon” that allegedly has a ring with a phone number.
The pigeon, “with a distinctive pink mark and a label on the leg,” was reported to the police station as a “suspected Pakistani spy,” NDTV said.
Police reportedly said the pigeon flew into a woman’s house in the Chadwal area of Jammu and Kashmir, an area occupied by India, on Sunday. A senior police officer said a phone number was written on the ring. Except for the ring, the police found nothing else and said they couldn’t find anything unusual.
The village head handed over the pigeon to the Indian Border Security Force (BSF), which in turn handed the bird over to the local police at the Hira Nagar police station.
India has also previously accused Pakistan of using pigeons for “espionage purposes”.
