Federal Cabinet focuses on power crises

(eNews.pk) - ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet on Wednesday expressed willingness to resolve the power shortage on the "war foundations" and directed the Energy Committee to submit its recommendations next week. The meeting chaired by Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani here at PM Secretariat has conducted a detailed examination of the energy shortage in the country. Gilani said he would personally monitor the situation on a day to day and said that he chaired the weekly meeting of the Government Committee on Energy. A statement issued after the meeting said that the Cabinet has expressed the desire to alleviate the sufferings of the people and for measures to address the shortage of power. "The Prime Minister underlined the necessity of immediately stopping the load unscheduled gap," the statement said. Secretary water and power in a detailed presentation to the Council of Ministers said that the total installed capacity in the country was 16,000 MW, 11,600 MW, while it was being produced. The Secretary attributed the decline in production in the cold northern areas, causing a shortage of 3500 MW, the statement said.

اسلام آباد…وفاقي کابينہ نے ملک ميں غير اعلانيہ لوڈشيڈنگ ختم کرنے کيلئے ہنگامي اقدامات کرنے کي ہدايات دي ہيں تاہم واپڈا حکام کا کہنا ہے کہ لوڈ شيڈنگ کے دورانئے ميں کمي لانے کيلئے چاليس سے پچاس ارب روپے فوري درکارہيں. وزير اعظم يوسف رضا گيلاني کي زير صدارت وزير اعظم سيکرٹريٹ ميں منعقدہ وفاقي کابينہ کے اجلاس ميں ملک ميں توانائي کي صورت حال کاجائزہ لياگيا. ذرائع کے مطابق واپڈا حکام نے وفاقي کابينہ کو آگاہ کيا کہ لوڈ شيڈنگ پرقابوپانے کيلئے تين سوارب روپے درکارہيں اور اس کے دورانئے ميں کمي لانے کيلئے 40 سے 50 ارب روپے فوري طورپردرکارہيں. وزير اعظم نے وزارت خزانہ کے حکام کو مالي وسائل فراہم کرنيکي ہدايت کي. وفاقي کابينہ نے پاکستان اور يو اے اي کے درميان سزا يافتہ ملزموں کي منتقلي کے معاہدے کي بھي توثيق کي جبکہ سعودي عرب کي يونيورسٹي اور نيشنل ڈيفنس يونيورسٹي کے درميان تعاون کے معاہدے کي ياداشت اور پاکستان اور تنزانيہ کے درميان دفاعي شعبے ميں تعاون کے معاہدے کي ياداشت کي منظوري بھي دي گئي .
