The Federal Government has recently approved the EV Policy for 4 Wheelers in a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC). The government aims to convert the auto sector of the country to electric vehicles and plans to bring EVs on the road as soon as possible. The government has also decided to establish Electric Vehicle charging stations on the high ways and motorways. The entire motorways structure will be converted to EVs for next two to three years.
For the import and manufacturing the EVs locally, federal government is taking very fast initiatives to make Pakistani auto industry free from heavy gaseous engine vehicles to curb with the various problems like environmental pollution. The federal government, in this regard has raised another positive initiative to bring 4 wheeler EVs to Pakistani market.

Electric Vehicles Policy For 4 Wheelers
The government has officially approved the tax exemption on 4 wheeler EVs. The announcement for exemption of tax was made by the Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Hammad Azhar I his Tweeter post.
The minister also shared the salient features of Electric Vehicle Policy for 4 wheelers as:
- Removal of Additional Customs Duty and AST on imports of EV cars
- Only 1% tax on import of EV parts for local manufacturers
- No Registration and annual renewal fee for EVs in Islamabad
- 1% sales tax for local made EVs up to 50kwh and light commercial vehicles up to 150 kwh.
- Only 1% Duty on import of charging equipment
- No Federal Excise Duty (FED) on Electric Vehicles
چار وہیلرزکے لیے بجلی کی گاڑی کی پالیسی
حکومت نے چار وہیلرزای وی ایس والے ای وی پر ٹیکس چھوٹ کی باضابطہ منظوری دے دی ہے۔ ٹیکس سے استثنیٰ کا اعلان وفاقی وزیر برائے صنعت و پیداوار ، حماد اظہر اول نے اپنے ٹویٹر پوسٹ پر کیا۔
وزیر نےچار وہیلرز کے لیے الیکٹرک وہیکل پالیسی کی نمایاں خصوصیات بھی شیئر کیں۔ ای وی کاروں کی درآمد پر اضافی کسٹم ڈیوٹی اور اے ایس ٹی کا خاتمہ- مقامی صنعت کاروں کے لئے ای وی حصوں کی درآمد پر صرف 1٪ ٹیکس اسلام آباد میں ای وی کے لئے کوئی رجسٹریشن اور سالانہ تجدید فیس نہیں
پچاس کلو واٹ تک کی مقامی ای وی پر 1 فیصد سیل ٹیکس اورایک سوپچاس کلو واٹ تک ہلکی تجارتی گاڑیاں۔ چارجنگ آلات کی درآمد پر صرف 1٪ ڈیوٹی الیکٹرک گاڑیوں پر فیڈرل ایکسائز ڈیوٹی (ایف ای ڈی) نہیں ہے ای وی ایس کی تیاری کے لئے پلانٹ اور مشینری کی ڈیوٹی فری درآمد-
Public Transport and Electric Vehicles Charging Stations
The Federal Minister for Industries and Production, Hammad Azhar also briefed about the public transport and installation of the charging stations for EVs. He said that at the initial stage, government will start electric buses in major cities like Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. While talking to media minister said that the largest European bus manufacturing company EGV will manufacture electric buses in Pakistan.
The government also plans to install charging stations in the country, the Pakistan State Oil PSO has already setup an EV charging station in Islamabad. At the inauguration ceremony of the first EV charging station, the Federal Minister for Power and Division Omer Ayub Khan said while talking to media that 24 charging stations will be installed over the country.
پبلک ٹرانسپورٹ اور الیکٹرک گاڑی چارجنگ اسٹیشنز
وفاقی وزیر صنعت و پیداوار حماد اظہر نے پبلک ٹرانسپورٹ اور ای وی کے لئے چارجنگ اسٹیشنوں کی تنصیب کے بارے میں بھی آگاہ کیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ابتدائی مرحلے میں حکومت لاہور ، کراچی اور اسلام آباد جیسے بڑے شہروں میں برقی بسیں چلائے گی۔ وزیر میڈیا سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ سب سے بڑی یورپی بس مینوفیکچرنگ کمپنی ای جی وی پاکستان میں برقی بسیں تیار کرے گی۔
حکومت ملک میں چارجنگ اسٹیشنز لگانے کا بھی ارادہ رکھتی ہے ، پاکستان اسٹیٹ آئل پی ایس او نے پہلے ہی اسلام آباد میں ای وی چارجنگ اسٹیشن قائم کیا ہے۔ پہلے ای وی چارجنگ اسٹیشن کی افتتاحی تقریب میں ، وفاقی وزیر بجلی و ڈویژن عمر ایوب خان نے میڈیا سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ ملک میں چوبیس چارجنگ اسٹیشنز لگائے جائیں گے۔
