Musharraf confesses to a secret drone deal with US

(eNews.pk) - Islamabad: According to the U.S. news channel CNN, former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf has admitted that his government secretly struck a deal with U.S. drone strikes in the tribal areas of Pakistan.




This is the first time the top past or present Pakistani official publicly admitted to such a solution, said the news channel.
In an interview this week in Islamabad, Musharraf insisted that the Pakistani government signed off strikes "only on a few occasions when the target was completely isolated and no chance of collateral damage," he said in a CNN report.
American news channel said that still, his admission that Pakistani leaders agreed to offset the limited number of strikes against their repeated condemnation of the program has long claimed the United States was operating without their consent.
The report also says that the drones - which partisan public policy group The New American Foundation estimated to have killed at least 1,990 people in Pakistan, including hundreds of civilians - are unpopular in Pakistan.








پرویز مشرف کا امریکا کیساتھ ڈرون حملوں کے معاہدے کا اعتراف


کراچی… سابق صدر اور جنرل پرویز مشرف نے پہلی مرتبہ ڈرون حملوں کے لئے امریکا کے ساتھ معاہدہ کرنے کا اعتراف کیا ہے۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ ڈرون حملوں کے ذریعے ایسے ٹارگٹس کو نشانہ بنانے کی اجازت دی تھی جن میں اجتماعی نقصان نہ ہو۔ایک امریکی ٹیلی ویڑن چینل کو انٹرویو میں سابق صدر پرویز مشرف کا کہنا تھا کہ کچھ مواقعوں پر ڈرون حملوں کی اجازت دے دی گئی تھی.حملوں کی اجازت ایسی صورت میں دی جا سکتی تھی جب ہدف تنہا ہو اور حملے کی صورت میں کسی بڑی تباہی کا امکان نہ ہواس سے پہلے جنرل مشرف اور دیگر پاکستانی رہنما امریکا کے ساتھ ڈرون حملوں کے کسی معاہدے سے انکار کرتے رہے ہیں اور ان کا کہنا ہے کہ یہ حملے انکی اجازت کے بغیر ہورہے ہیں۔ان کا کہنا تھا کہ شدت پسند پہاڑوں کے ان علاقوں میں رہتے تھے جہاں پہنچنا ممکن نہیں ہوتا تھا۔فوج اور انٹیلی جنس یونٹس سے بات چیت کے بعد پاکستانی رہنماوٴں کو ڈرون حملوں کی منظوری دینا تھی۔اور ان حملوں کی اجازت صرف ایسی صورت میں تھی جب خود پاکستانی فوج کے پاس اس کارروائی کیلئے وقت نہ ہو ۔ پرویز مشرف نے اعتراف کیا کہ 2004 میں نیک محمد کو ڈرون حملے میں ہی ہلاک کیا گیا تھا۔
