افراط زر 8.4 فیصد پر برقرار

Inflation based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was recorded at 8.4 per cent year-on-year in August 2021, as against 8.41 per cent in July 2021 and 8.21 per cent in August 2020. On Wednesday was Statistics (PBS).

On a monthly basis, as per the Monthly Review of Price Indicators, the CPI in August 2021 rose by 0.6 per cent from 1.3 per cent in the previous month.

Year after year CPI inflation was driven by transportation, food and housing.

Samiullah Tariq, head of research at Pak-Kuwait Investment Company, told that inflation was in line with market estimates.

According to PBS, the average inflation rate during the first two months (July-August) was 8.38 per cent, up from 8.74 per cent in the same period last fiscal.

During the month under review, the Wholesale Price Index (WPI), which captures prices in the wholesale market, rose 17.7% in August compared to the same month a year ago.

PBS reported that overall inflation slowed in urban areas, while inflation rose in rural areas. Inflation in urban areas declined to 8.3 per cent in August and 8.4 per cent in rural areas in August from the same month last year.

Food inflation was 10.2 per cent in cities and 9.1 per cent in rural areas, which is significantly higher than the previous month. Non-food inflation was recorded at 7.2% in urban areas and 7.7% in rural areas.

In August, basic inflation excluding food and energy items fell to 6.3 per cent in urban areas, the National Data Collection Agency said.

The food group saw a 9.96 per cent increase in prices in August in the same month from a year ago. Within the food group, non-perishable food prices declined 11.09 percent year-on-year, but food prices effectively declined 3.38 percent. Inflation for the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel groups – which weigh a quarter of the basket – fell to 7.96 per cent last month.

The average price of the clothing and footwear group fell 9.34% in August. 8.08% reduction in transportation related prices

According to PBS, prices of tomatoes rose by 36.34 per cent, eggs by 23.68 per cent, poultry by 20.47 per cent and meat by about 14 per cent in August. Milk prices rose 10.64% last month.

Changes in tax policies in the budget, increase in commodity prices in the international market and depreciation of rupee led to most of the price hikes.

Samiullah Tariq said: “Going forward, we believe that inflation will remain within the limits set by the central bank.”

پی بی ایس کے مطابق پہلے دو مہینوں (جولائی تا اگست) کے دوران مہنگائی کی اوسط شرح 8.38 فیصد رہی جو گزشتہ مالی سال کی اسی مدت میں 8.74 فیصد تھی۔

زیر جائزہ ماہ کے دوران ، تھوک قیمت انڈیکس (ڈبلیو پی آئی) ، جو تھوک مارکیٹ میں قیمتوں پر قبضہ کرتا ہے ، ایک سال پہلے کے اسی مہینے کے مقابلے میں اگست میں 17.7 فیصد اضافہ ہوا۔

شہروں میں خوراک کی افراط زر 10.2 فیصد اور دیہی علاقوں میں 9.1 فیصد رہی جو کہ پچھلے مہینے کے مقابلے میں نمایاں طور پر زیادہ ہے۔ غیر خوراکی افراط زر شہری علاقوں میں 7.2 فیصد اور دیہی علاقوں میں 7.7 فیصد ریکارڈ کیا گیا۔

نیشنل ڈیٹا کلیکشن ایجنسی نے کہا کہ اگست میں شہری علاقوں میں خوراک اور توانائی کی اشیاء کو چھوڑ کر بنیادی افراط زر 6.3 فیصد تک گر گیا۔

فوڈ گروپ نے اگست میں ایک سال پہلے کے مقابلے میں اسی مہینے میں قیمتوں میں 9.96 فیصد اضافہ دیکھا۔ فوڈ گروپ کے اندر ، غیر تباہ کن کھانے کی قیمتوں میں سال بہ سال 11.09 فیصد کمی واقع ہوئی ، لیکن خوراک کی قیمتوں میں مؤثر طریقے سے 3.38 فیصد کمی واقع ہوئی۔ ہاؤسنگ ، پانی ، بجلی ، گیس اور ایندھن گروپوں کے لیے مہنگائی – جو کہ ٹوکری کا ایک چوتھائی وزن ہے – گزشتہ ماہ 7.96 فیصد تک گر گئی۔

پی بی ایس کے مطابق اگست میں ٹماٹر کی قیمتوں میں 36.34 فیصد ، انڈوں میں 23.68 فیصد ، پولٹری میں 20.47 فیصد اور گوشت میں تقریبا 14 14 فیصد اضافہ ہوا۔ گزشتہ ماہ دودھ کی قیمتوں میں 10.64 فیصد اضافہ ہوا۔

بجٹ میں ٹیکس پالیسیوں میں تبدیلی ، بین الاقوامی مارکیٹ میں اشیاء کی قیمتوں میں اضافہ اور روپے کی قدر میں کمی بیشتر قیمتوں میں اضافے کا باعث بنی۔

سمیع اللہ طارق نے کہا: “آگے بڑھتے ہوئے ، ہمیں یقین ہے کہ افراط زر مرکزی بینک کی مقرر کردہ حدود میں رہے گا۔”
