Constitutional petition against MQM referendum

(eNews.pk) - KARACHI: The constitutional petition is filed in Sindh High Court (SHC) against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), a referendum on "the Taliban or Quaid-e-Azam's Pakistan ', Geo news reported.




The petitioner Haji Gul Ahmed has pleaded that holding a referendum on sensitive issues is the sole prerogative of the Prime Minister with the approval of parliament. Any political party or individual can not hold such a referendum.
The petitioner prayed that the MQM referendum is a betrayal of the national law and the Constitution Act in addition to the parliament.
It may be mentioned here that the MQM announced a referendum asking people if they wanted to Quaid-e-Azam's Pakistan or the Taliban on November 8th Pakistan.

کراچی …متحدہ قومی موومنٹ کی جانب سے ہونے والے ریفرنڈم کے خلاف سندھ ہائی کورٹ میں آئینی درخواست دائر کردی گئی ہے۔متحدہ قومی موومنٹ نے قائد اعظم کا پاکستان یا طالبان کا پاکستان کے عنوان سے 8 نومبر کو ریفرنڈم کرانے کا اعلان کیا ہے۔سندھ ہائی کورٹ میں دائر آئینی درخواست میں حاجی گل احمد نے موقف اختیار کیا ہے کہ ملکی حساس معاملات پر ریفرنڈم کرانا پارلیمنٹ کی منظوری سے وزیر اعظم کا اختیار ہے۔کوئی سیاسی جماعت یا شخص اس طرح کا ریفرنڈم نہیں کرواسکتا، درخواست گزار نے موقف اختیار کیا ہے کہ ایم کیو ایم کا ریفرنڈم ملکی قانون اور آئین سے بغاوت اور پارلیمنٹ کے خلاف اقدام ہے۔
