Thousands of People Take Part in Protests against Racism in the United States

Officials from the capital city of Washington and other major US cities imposed curfews to prevent new unrest after anti-racism protesters took to the streets again to express their anger at police brutality. Local leaders urged nationals to express their anger at the death of an unarmed black man constructively, while night curtains were imposed in cities like Washington, Los Angeles, Houston, and Minneapolis, which were the epicenter of the protest. The most closely observed riots were outside of the state capital in Minneapolis, the twin city of St. Paul, where hundreds and thousands of people gathered before marching down a freeway.

Muna Abdi, a 31-year-old black woman who joined the protest, said: “We have black sons, black brothers, black friends, we don’t want them to die. We are fed up with this generation not having it, we are fed up with being suppressed. ” Regarding her 3-year-old son, she added, “I want to make sure he stays alive.” Hundreds of police and national guard troops were deployed before the riots. There were large-scale protests in cities like New York, Miami, and Washington, where the riot police lined up in front of the White House when the crowd gathered in a nearby park.

The Mayor of Washington issued a curfew from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., when the New York Times reported that President Donald Trump had been brought into an underground bunker in the White House by Secret Service agents on Friday evening, during another protest.
