The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sarhad (SCCI) and Afghan diplomats agreed to meet together to remove the barriers to bilateral Pakistani trade and transit in a meeting between the SCCI, the Pakistani Joint Chambers of Commerce and Industry (PAJCCI).
The SCCI delegation informed the Afghan Consul General Najeebullah Ahmadzai about problems that business, retailers, industrialists, exporters and importers are facing and made recommendations for their amicable solution.
The Afghan diplomat fully agreed with the SCCI delegation’s proposals to strengthen bilateral and trade relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan and to remove barriers to trade between countries. The SCCI delegation invited the Afghan Consul General Najeebullah Ahmadzai to visit the Sarhad Chamber.
On this occasion, Ziaul Haq Sarhadi said that around 6,000 empty trucks from Afghan transit trade got stuck on the other side of the Pakistani-Afghan border, which are being gradually released at the request of the SCCI.
He said that today (Saturday) almost 1,500 empty trucks / containers crossed the border, while the calm would reach Pakistan the next week.
The meeting agreed to solve problems among traders, exporters and importers together in order to stimulate mutual trade and transit trade between the two neighboring countries. Sarhadi requested that Pakistan’s Torkham and Chaman be opened permanently to trade around the clock, after which the Afghan Consul General and other relevant officials assured that the SCCI proposal to promote mutual Pakistani trade and transit would be implemented.
He praised the efforts of the Afghan Consul General Najeebullah Ahmadzai to strengthen bilateral trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan and the proactive measures to resolve the longstanding demands and problems of business, dealers, exporters and importers.
