SC orders door-to-door verification

(eNews.pk) - ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan to conduct door-to-door verification process of electoral rolls in Karachi with the help of the army and Rangers, Geo news.




The order said that the army and the Rangers could be used in this campaign check as your participation will help the authorities to solve the problem of public order of the country's commercial center.
Voters should not be transferred from one place to another without the consent of the voters, said the order.
The judgment also corresponding to the discretion of individual citizens as to where he wants to cast his vote.
A three-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry announced the verdict delivered by Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh and here.

اسلام آباد…سپریم کورٹ نے حکم دیا ہے کہ الیکشن کمیشن کراچی میں انتخابی فہرستیں درست کرے ، فوج اور ایف سی کی مدد سے ووٹرز کی گھر گھر جا کر جلد از جلد تصدیق کرائی جائے ۔ چیف جسٹس افتخار محمد چودھری ، جسٹس گلزار احمد اور جسٹس شیخ عظمت سعید پر مشتمل بنچ نے کراچی میں انتخابی فہرستوں میں مبینہ بے ضابطگیوں اور بے قاعدگیوں کے خلاف مسلم لیگ ن، جماعت اسلامی ، تحریک انصاف اور پیپلزپارٹی کی آئینی درخواستوں پر فیصلہ محفوظ کیا تھا، جسٹس شیخ عظمت سعید نے 24 صفحات پر مشتمل فیصلہ پڑھ کر سنایا۔عدالتی فیصلہ میں کہا گیا ہے کہ ِاس بات سے انکار نہیں کیا جا سکتا کہ آزاد اور شفاف انتخابات وقت کی ضرورت ہیں ،ملک میں پارلیمانی جمہوری نظام دن بدن مضبوط ہو رہا ہے، تمام شہریوں کا بنیادی حق ہے کہ وہ اپنے ووٹ کا استعمال کریں ، الیکشن کمیشن کی آئینی ذمہ داری ہے کہ وہ شفاف ، آزاد اور منصفانہ انتخابات کو یقینی بنائے اور اس مقصد کے حصول کے لیے آئین کے آرٹیکل 220 کے تحت وفاق کے تمام آئینی ادارے الیکشن کمیشن کی مدد کے پابند ہیں، آئین کے آرٹیکل 219 کے تحت سالانہ بنیادوں پر ووٹر لسٹوں کی تیاری الیکشن کمیشن کا فرض ہے۔
