Dealers said that the rupee continued to depreciate against the dollar for the third day in a row on Wednesday, as it fell to Rs 172.93 in the interbank foreign exchange market.

The exchange rate on the interbank foreign exchange market closed at Rs 171.63 yesterday, reducing the exchange rate by Rs 1.30 against the dollar.

The local unit fell by Rs 2.92 against the greenback during the last three trading sessions.

Dealers said demand for greenbacks for external payments remained high during the day.

On October 26, 2021, the Saudi government pledged 3 3 billion in aid to Pakistan to regulate the balance of payments. However, this amount has not been transferred yet.

In addition, the government’s negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for another installment have not been finalized.

According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the import bill increased by 65.15 per cent to 25 25.06 billion during July-October 2021 from 15 15.17 billion in the same period last fiscal.

The local currency has been under pressure since the beginning of the current financial year. It fell from Rs. 157.54 on June 30, 2021 to Rs. 172.93 on November 10, 2021 and fell by Rs.

مقامی یونٹ گزشتہ تین تجارتی سیشنز کے دوران گرین بیک کے مقابلے میں 2.92 روپے گر گیا۔

ڈیلرز نے کہا کہ بیرونی ادائیگیوں کے لیے گرین بیکس کی مانگ دن کے دوران زیادہ رہی۔

26 اکتوبر 2021 کو سعودی حکومت نے ادائیگیوں کے توازن کو منظم کرنے کے لیے پاکستان کو 3 ارب ڈالر کی امداد کا وعدہ کیا۔ تاہم یہ رقم ابھی تک منتقل نہیں کی گئی۔

اس کے علاوہ بین الاقوامی مالیاتی فنڈ (آئی ایم ایف) کے ساتھ ایک اور قسط کے لیے حکومت کے مذاکرات کو حتمی شکل نہیں دی گئی۔

پاکستان بیورو آف سٹیٹسٹکس (پی بی ایس) کے مطابق جولائی تا اکتوبر 2021 کے دوران درآمدی بل 65.15 فیصد بڑھ کر 25.06 بلین ڈالر ہو گیا جو گزشتہ مالی سال کی اسی مدت میں 15.17 بلین ڈالر تھا۔

رواں مالی سال کے آغاز سے ہی مقامی کرنسی دباؤ کا شکار ہے۔ روپے سے گر گیا۔ 30 جون 2021 کو 157.54 سے روپے 10 نومبر 2021 کو 172.93 اور روپے کی کمی ہوئی۔

مقامی یونٹ نے 26 اکتوبر 2021 کو 175.27 روپے کی اب تک کی کم ترین سطح ریکارڈ کی۔
