Private School Owners Criticize Government's Decision To Close Schools

The National Education Council (NEC), an association of private school owners, has criticized the government’s decision to close the school for the third time in a year because of the situation. The wave has been declared an epidemic in Pakistan

Addressing a press conference at the Peshawar Press Club along with other officials, NEC chairman Nazar Hussain termed the decision as anti-education.

He questioned the logic of school closures when all other sectors, including banks, courts, markets and shopping malls, were operating without any standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Hussein quoted a health expert as saying that children were more protected from the corona virus in schools than at home or outside, adding that repeated closures would affect their education, which is why he opposed the move. Education is declared.

He called on the government to reconsider anti-people and anti-education decisions, and demanded education cards as well as health cards.

Providing free education to the people is the constitutional duty of the government, so the government should provide education cards to the backward people like health cards.

The NEC chairman announced that epidemics had destroyed the education sector and forced the closure of 6,000 small private schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa because the government had not provided bailout packages to schools.

He further demanded that the government pay six months’ rent to schools operating in rented buildings to prevent them from closing.
