ISLAMABAD: The Central Committee of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) on Friday decided to consult the leaders of the parties of the ruling coalition in the aspect of Raja Pervaiz Ashraf prime minister before the Supreme Court on August 27.
The meeting was jointly chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf. According to sources, the meeting decided that the final decision on this issue could only be taken after consultation with coalition partners.
Sources said Justice Minister Farooq H Naek gave a detailed report on the legal aspects of the Supreme Court's directive to the Prime Minister to appear before the court on Monday.
"There was a review in the meeting that under the constitution the prime minister is not required to appear in court in their official conduct. Most ministers attending the meeting agreed with the government's legal team," they added. Sources said that the meeting of the coalition partners will have to appear today (Saturday) or Sunday.
Meanwhile, a press release issued by the PID, says President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf chaired a meeting of ministers and senior PPP leaders here in the presidency.
Briefing on the meeting, presidential spokesman Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the meeting discussed the current political situation in the country. "The law and order situation in the country's situation, floods and energy were also discussed," he added.
The spokesman said Prime Minister Ahmed Mukhtar and Raja briefed the meeting on the energy situation and developments in the various measures being taken to overcome the power shortage in the country.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik briefed the meeting on the law and order situation in the country and the various measures taken to ensure security during Eid. Rana Mohammad Farooq Saeed Khan, Minister for Climate Change, reported on the flood situation in the country.
Babar said the meeting also reviewed reports on complaints of Hindus and incidents of discrimination against minorities. He said the meeting resolved that minorities would not be allowed to be discriminated against and they provide full protection of the law.
The spokesman said the president, while expressing deep concern and regret over the recent loss of lives and properties in the north and other regions of the country, called for preparing flood preparations and also requested to closely monitor the situation.

اسلام آباد… صدر آصف علي زرداري اور وزيراعظم راجہ پرويز اشرف کي زير صدارت پيپلزپارٹي کي سينئر قيادت کا اجلاس ہوا جس ميں وزيراعظم کي سپريم کورٹ ميں پيشي سے متعلق مختلف آپشنز پر غور کيا گيا ايوان صدر کے ترجمان کي طرف سے جاري اعلاميہ کے مطابق اجلاس ميں وزير قانون فاروق ايچ نائيک نے بريفنگ دي اور وزيراعظم کي سپريم کورٹ ميں پيشي سے متعلق شرکاء کو مختلف آپشنز سے آگاہ کيا. اجلاس ميں وزيرپاني و بجلي احمد مختار نے توانائي اور وزير داخلہ رحمان ملک نے امن وامان کے صورت حال بارے بريفنگ دي..اجلاس ميں اقليتوں بالخصوص ہندووں کے ساتھ امتيازي سلوک سے متعلق رپورٹس پر بھي غور کيا گيا..صدارتي ترجمان کے مطابق ملک کے مختلف علاقوں ميں سيلاب کي صورت حال سے نمٹنے کے حوالے سے اقدامات پر بھي غور کيا گيا . صدر کے ترجمان نے بتايا کہ وزيراعظم راجہ پرويز اشرف اور پاني و بجلي کے وزير چوہدري احمد مختار نے اجلاس کو توانائي کي صورتحال اور ملک ميں بجلي کي کمي پر قابو پانے کے لئے اٹھائے جانے والے مختلف اقدامات بارے بريف کيا. وزير داخلہ سينيٹر اے رحمن ملک نے اجلاس کو ملک ميں امن و امان کي صورتحال اور عيد کے دوران سيکيورٹي کو يقيني بنانے کے لئے کئے جانے والے مختلف اقدامات بارے بريف کيا.آب و ہوا کي تبديليوں بارے وزير رانا محمد فاروق سعيد خان نے اجلاس کے شرکاء کو ملک ميں سيلابوں کي صورتحال بارے بتايا. ترجمان نے بتايا کہ اجلاس ميں ہندوؤں کو درپيش مسائل اور اقليتوں کے خلاف امتيازي سلوک کے حوالے سے واقعات کي رپورٹس کا بھي جائزہ ليا گيا. انہوں نے کہا کہ اجلاس ميں اس عزم کا اظہار کيا گيا کہ کسي کو بھي اقليتوں سے امتيازي سلوک کرنے کي اجازت نہيں دي جائے گي اور انہيں مکمل قانوني تحفظ فراہم کيا جائے گا. ترجمان نے بتايا کہ صدر نے ملک کے شمالي علاقوں اور ديگر حصوں ميں انساني جانوں کے حاليہ ضياع پر گہري تشويش اور افسوس کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے سيلابوں سے نمٹنے کي تيارياں تيز کرنے اور سيلابوں کي صورتحال کي مانيٹرنگ کي ضرورت پر زور ديا. انہوں نے کہا کہ شديد بارشوں اور سيلابوں کي پيشن گوئيوں کے پيش نظر اس بات کي اشد ضرورت ہے کہ کسي بھي ناخوشگوار صورتحال سے بچنے کے لئے وفاقي اور صوبائي حکام رابطہ ميں رہيں. انہوں نے وفاقي حکومت کو بارشوں سے متاثرہ افراد کو ريليف کي فراہمي اور پيشگي احتياطي اقدامات کے لئے صوبائي حکومتوں کے ساتھ ہر ممکن تعاون کرنے کي ہدايت بھي کي. اجلاس ميں شرکت کرنے والوں ميں سابق وزيراعظم سيد يوسف رضا گيلاني‘ مخدوم امين فہيم‘ نذر محمد گوندل‘ رانا محمد فاروق سعيد خان‘ قمر زمان کائرہ‘ سينيٹر اے رحمن ملک‘ مياں منظور احمد وٹو‘ سينيٹر فاروق ايچ نائيک‘ مخدوم شہاب الدين‘ چوہدري احمد مختار‘ سينيٹر سردار علي خان‘ ترجمان سينيٹر فرحت اللہ بابر‘ ارکان قومي اسمبلي رخسانہ بنگش اور فوزيہ حبيب شامل تھيں.
