The Cabinet Committee on Transportation and Logistics (CCOTL) decided in a meeting that Port Qasim Authority (PQA) will reduce port charges by 50 per cent to boost exports,.
The move will benefit exporters who face higher production and delivery costs amid oil prices and the devaluation of the local currency.
The decision was taken bu Committee during a meeting on September 1. He also asked the PQA to inquire into the possibility of granting exclusive rights to coal handling to the Pakistan International Bulk Terminal.
The purpose of this inquiry is to address the congestion crisis at PIBT only on coal handling berths, causign delays and high demurrage costs.
Officials at the meeting agreed to form a committee to investigate the legality of such an agreement and submit a proposal to the CCOTL within two weeks.

اس اقدام سے ان برآمد کنندگان کو فائدہ ہوگا جنہیں تیل کی قیمتوں اور مقامی کرنسی کی قدر میں کمی کے درمیان زیادہ پیداوار اور ترسیل کے اخراجات کا سامنا ہے۔
یہ فیصلہ 1 ستمبر کو ایک کمیٹی کے اجلاس کے دوران لیا گیا تھا۔
اس انکوائری کا مقصد پی آئی بی ٹی میں بھیڑ کے بحران سے نمٹنے کے لیے صرف کوئلے کو سنبھالنے کی جگہیں ، وجہ میں تاخیر اور زیادہ ڈیموریج لاگت ہے۔
اجلاس میں موجود عہدیداروں نے اس طرح کے معاہدے کی قانونی حیثیت کی تحقیقات کے لیے ایک کمیٹی بنانے پر اتفاق کیا اور دو ہفتوں کے اندر سی سی او ٹی ایل کو ایک تجویز پیش کی۔
