Federal Minister for Railways, Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, said corruption is a serious crime and anyone involved in the practice should not be spared. In my opinion, however, none of the ministers in ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is involved in corruption, he added.

Sheikh Rashid said during a press conference in Lahore that if the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) calls someone, it does not mean the person should be removed from the office. I had predicted that after the oath the NAB would summon politicians from both sides, he added.

Regarding ML-1, the Minister of Railways said that the project that China has declared a “strategic project” will be the first in Asia with an automatic signaling system.

Sheikh Rashid expressed the desire for the Chinese President to inaugurate the ML-1 project, adding that the project will be of great benefit to the economy.

The minister also announced that the railroad will start operating 10 more trains from August 16.
