Nigeria, floods killed 65 people

(eNews.pk) - Niamey: Niger Heavy flooding in recent weeks has killed up to 65 people and left 125,000 people homeless.




After appeals by the president of the country to international aid, the first supplies donated by Ireland to Plan International have now arrived.
The southern region of Dosso was worst affected, with more than 10,000 homes destroyed, according to the UN.
The capital Niamey was also affected when the Niger River overflowed, flooding parts of the city.
Plan International Director Niger Drisdalle Rheal said August 18-19, the river reached levels "not seen since the 1920s."

لاگوس… مغربي افريقين ملک نائجير ميں چند روز سے جاري بارشوں اور سيلاب کے باعث65 سے زائد افراد ہلاک جبکہ1لاکھ25ہزار افراد بے گھر ہوگئے. ميڈيا رپورٹس کے مطابق اقوام متحدہ کے ادارے برائے انساني حقوق کي جانب سے جاري بيان ميں کہا گيا ہے کہ شديد بارش کے باعث درياؤں ميں پاني کي سطح تاريخي بلندي پر پہنچ چکي ہے اور سب سے زيادہ جنوبي علاقہ ڈوسو متاثر ہوا ہے،جہاں65سے زائد افراد ہلاکت کي تصديق ہوئي ہے،جبکہ14 ہزار مکانات مکمل طور پر تباہ اور ايک لاکھ سے زائد لوگ گھر بار چھوڑ کر محفوظ مقامات پر منتقل ہو گئے ہيں،ہزاروں ايکڑ پر مشتمل فصليں تباہ ہوچکي ہيں،حکومت آئرلينڈ نے صدر کي اپيل پر امدادي اشياء سے بھرا طيارہ بھيجنے کا اعلان کيا ہے.
