The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant for National Security, Moeed Yusuf, spoke at a press conference in Islamabad on Saturday with the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant to Health, Dr. Zafar Mirza, over the majority of passengers returning to Pakistan on special flights from various countries have tested positive for coronavirus.

Moeed Yusuf said the government is working hard to bring more nationals back to Pakistan who have been stranded in several countries. More than 15,000 nationals were brought back to Pakistan by special flights from various countries. In addition, another 100,000 stranded Pakistani nationals contacted the authorities and all would be returned to Pakistan.

He said: “We want all Pakistanis to return as soon as possible but in a safe way. We cannot have them come back and infect their loved ones. “

He said it had been decided to operate 30 flights over the next ten days, and these flights would focus on the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, since 90% of the 1,000 stranded Pakistanis live in these Gulf states. If we continue to increase our test capacity, we can increase the number of flights, ”he added.

He urged all foreigners to comply with the government’s standard operating procedures (SOP). Some influential people try to escape the tests when they return from abroad. The government follows the international control procedure for anyone returning from abroad. “

The Prime Minister’s special assistant, Dr. Zafar Mirza said on this occasion: “We carried out 9,164 tests yesterday, the highest so far, and we expect the test capacity to continue to increase.”

He said the coronavirus cases have seen an increase in the country, but they are still less than the projections.
