ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed took oath as the permanent judge of the Supreme Court Friday, Geo news reported. Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry administered the oath.
The required number of judges in the Supreme Court has completed after Justice Azmat Saeed’s inclusion.
Justice Saeed, who has been serving as Chief Justice of the LHC, is elevated to the Supreme Court after the Judicial Commission finalised its recommendations over his name and sent it to the Parliamentary Committee on appointment of judges of the superior judiciary, which also gave its approval.
Upon the advice of Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, President Asif Ali Zardari approved on Thursday the elevation of Chief Justice LHC Sheikh Azmat Saeed as judge of the Supreme Court.
According to the official web site of the LHC, Justice Saeed had obtained his LL.B degree in 1978 and joined the legal profession the same year at Rawalpindi and was enrolled as an advocate after completion of apprenticeship.
After working in various chambers, he started his independent practice in Lahore in 1980 and was enrolled as an Advocate of the LHC and as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan in 1981.He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the LHC from 12 January, 2004 and on confirmation took oath as Judge of the LHC on January 12, 2005.

اسلام آباد… جسٹس عظمت سعيد نے سپريم کورٹ کے مستقل جج کا حلف اٹھاليا. چيف جسٹس افتخارمحمد چودھري نے ان سے حلف ليا. جسٹس عظمت سعيد کے حلف کے بعد سپريم کورٹ ميں ججز کي تعداد مکمل ہو گئي. واضح رہے کہ اس سے قبل جسٹس عظمت سعيد نے لاہور ہائي کورٹ کے چيف جسٹس کي حيثيت سے ذمہ دارياں انجام ديں.
