Japan restarts 1st reactor amid protests

(eNews.pk) - TOKYO: Kansai Electric Power Co restarted on Sunday the 1180 MW unit No. 3 at its Ohi nuclear plant, the company, the first nuclear reactor in Japan back in line from the Fukushima crisis, despite concerns public safety.

The government approved on June 16 the resumption of the No. 3 and No. 4 reactors at the plant to avoid a crisis Ohi summer of potential power, sparking street protests in cities across Japan.

Unit No. 4 operations will resume later this month.

Opinion polls have shown about 70 percent of Japanese voters want the country to get rid of nuclear energy in the long term.

جاپان:عوامي مخالفت کے باوجود ايٹمي پاور پلانٹ چلانے کا آغاز

ٹوکيو. . . .جاپان ميں عوامي مخالفت اور مظاہروں کے باوجود ايٹمي پاور پلانٹ دوبارہ چلا نے کا آغاز کر ديا گيا ہے.گزشتہ سال مارچ ميں فوکوشيما نيوکليئر پاور پلانٹ سے تابکاري کے اخراج کے بعد جاپان بھر ميں تمام ايٹمي بجلي گھر بند کر ديے گئے تھے.حفاظتي انتظامات کا جائزہ لينے کے بعد ايٹمي بجلي گھروں کو دوبارہ چلايا جا رہا ہے.اس سلسلے ميں سب سے پہلے فوکوئي صوبے ميں واقع اوہي نيوکلير پلانٹ کو چلا ديا گيا ہے.تاہم ايٹمي بجلي گھروں کے خلاف جاپان ميں کئي روز سے مظاہرے جاري ہيں.ہزاروں افراد نے جاپان کے وزير اعظم کے گھر کے باہر مظاہرہ کيا.جاپاني وزير اعظم نے فيصلے کا دفاع کرتے ہوئے کہا ہے کہ شہريوں کا معيار زندگي برقرار رکھنے کے ليے نيوکليئر پاور پلانٹ چلانا ناگزير ہے اور اگر ايٹمي بجلي گھر نہ چلائے گئے تو ملک کے کئي حصوں ميں لوڈشيڈنگ کرني پڑے گي.
