Governor Sindh Grant five millions to SMU

(eNews.pk) - KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr Ishrat ul Ibad Khan has announced a special grant of Rs 50 million for the first and fundamental work of the newly created Sindh Medical University (SMU).




He made this announcement while leading a high-level meeting at the Governor House where matters relating to the university reviewed. He said that all possible support will be extended to the university to a medical institution of international standard.
Sindh Health Minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed, Secretary Law, Secretary Health, BC Dow Medical College and Sindh Medical University VC Dr Tariq Rafi and other officials attended the meeting.
The meeting took principle decision to rename the university as Jinnah Sindh Medical College and make Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) as the constituent hospital while NICHOLSON and NICVD as the affiliated institutions.
Sindh Governor said that the university should be created as an identity of Karachi city and resources will be provided to SMU without any deduction in the funds of the Dow Medical College.

کراچي…گورنر سندھ ڈاکٹر عشرت العباد خان نے نئي قائم کردہ سندھ ميڈيکل يونيورسٹي کے بنيادي اور ابتدائي کاموں کي تکميل کے لئے پانچ کروڑ روپے کي خصوصي گرانٹ کا اعلان کيا ہے. اجلاس ميں سندھ ميڈيکل يونيورسٹي کا نام جناح سندھ ميڈيکل يونيورسٹي رکھنے کا اصولي فيصلہ کيا گيا.انہوں نے يہ بات گورنر ہاو?س ميں اجلاس کے دوران کہي. اجلاس ميں صوبائي وزير صحت ڈاکٹر صغير احمد، سيکريٹري قانون غلام نبي شاہ، سندھ ميڈيکل يونيورسٹي کے وائس چانسلر پروفيسر ڈاکٹر طار ق رفع سميت متعلقہ حکام نے شرکت کي. گورنر سندھ ڈاکٹر عشرت العبادخان نے کہا کہ ڈاو? ميڈيکل يونيورسٹي کے بجٹ ميں کوئي کٹوتي کئے بغير سندھ ميڈيکل يونيورسٹي کو فنڈز فراہم کئے جائيں گے. انہوں نے دونوں يونيورسٹيزکے درميان معاملات کو حتمي صورت دينے کے لئے ٹرانزيشن افسر کي تعيناتي کي بھي ہدايت کي. اجلاس ميں سندھ ميڈيکل يونيورسٹي کا نام جناح سندھ ميڈيکل يونيورسٹي رکھنے کا اصولي فيصلہ کيا گيا، جس کے لئے مناسب قانون سازي کي جائيگي جبکہ ڈاکٹرعشرت العبادخان انسٹي ٹيوٹ آف اورل ہيلتھ کو ڈاو? ميڈيکل يونيورسٹي کے تحت ہي قائم رکھتے ہوئے نئي جگہ منتقل کرنے کا فيصلہ کيا گيا. اجلا س ميں جناح ہسپتال کو سندھ ميڈيکل يونيورسٹي کا حصہ بنانے کا اصولي فيصلہ کيا گيا جبکہ قومي ادارہ برائے صحت اطفال اور قومي ادارہ برائے قلب سندھ ميڈيکل يونيورسٹي کے الحاق شدہ ادارے ہوں گے.
