Load shedding is expected to increase in Karachi as a fault has been found in the power unit of K Electric Bin Qasim Power Plant.

The power outage is expected to increase to 10 hours a day.

The breakdown occurred in the Bin Qasim Power Plant unit when the Sindh government approved 40 acres for a new 500 kW grid station for the utility company.

The power outage in the city has now crossed 900 MW, and it seems that the PTI’s promise to end the immovable power outage in Karachi will not be fulfilled.

Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Measures Asad Omar on Saturday promised to end the immovable power outage in the city.

He said that the Petroleum Division would increase the supply of 190 standard cubic feet of gas from its previous supply to 290 cubic feet. “This means that K Electric will be provided an additional 100 standard cubic feet of gas per day,” the minister said.

He said that the company’s units near Bin Qasim would be run on furnace oil in a few days and the supply of oil has been increased by the division.
